OCEAN GROVE LODER
Shirley is enjoying life in "the Grove," along with many other family and area activities. She works at the Main Avenue Galleria in OG several days a month, and recently finished her ninth season on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant working at Risden's Beach. Shirley volunteers at the Bradley Beach Food Pantry and still participates in book clubs in Brielle and Manasquan. In between, you'll find her up in Shrewsbury helping shuttle where needed, and watching the school and athletic events of her grandchildren. And, of course, Billy (the Shrewsbury Loder's dog) helps Shirley keep exercising.

Amanda graduated from Franklin and Marshall in May, but not before leading a successful Relay for Life campaign on her campus. They surpassed their goal of raising $38,500 with a grand total of $60,000. After emotional farewells and final concerts, Amanda quickly moved on to the next phase of her life as an Account Associate at WCG in New York City, where she had interned the previous two summers. Amanda officially became a city dweller at the same time, getting an apartment in Brooklyn with a sorority sister from college.Bob and Cindy continue to enjoy life in the country. One of the highlights of the family's year was hosting members of the African Children's Choir during their visit to our area. Dennis, Watson and their chaperone, Joel, brought their beaming smiles into our home for five days. Josh and Sarah got their driver's licenses this year, and between marching band and choir rehearsals have been working on college applications. They both worked this summer at Hi-Hills Day Camp. Brad is following his passion of working with animals as a vet tech, and Cindy's ever-expanding role at Gill St. Bernard's continues to keep her busy.

2011 was an amazing year for the Murphys. The year started off a bit rough, with Kylie and Kathy rooming together in Jersey Shore Medical Center! Kylie has endured a tough medical year, and we are hoping that 2012 will be a better one for her. Yet, even as she has been struggling, she has worked extremely hard, and was able to get straight A’s this year. She has resumed playing piano, and this past Spring she received a Scholastic Gold Key Award for a piece she wrote in creative writing.

2011 was quite spectacular for Kelsey. Kelsey had such great milestones as a senior in high school: feature dramatic roles in her school drama program and in her theater company, graduated top 10% of her class and received a merit scholarship to Catholic University. The highlight was the Count Basie Awards Ceremony, where Kelsey received a Basie Award (the Tony Awards of Monmouth County High Schools) for her portrayal of Celia in “As You Like It." She has just been cast in her first stage performance at Catholic University.
Kaitlyn continues to excel at Notre Dame, where she made the Dean’s list during the Spring 2011 semester. She worked as an intern this summer at Pfizer Corporation, and has been actively working on pursuing a position upon graduation. Kaitlyn remains an avid Notre Dame sports fan, and was able to get to 10 out of 12 football games this season. She also began running and hopes to do her first half marathon in 2012.
Kerry and Kathy celebrated their 25th anniversary this fall with a surprise trip courtesy of their children to the US Open. They also were very fortunate to be able to visit their children at college. They travelled to Notre Dame for Junior Parent Weekend, and were able to return in the Fall for the Navy Game for Halloween weekend. The family also went to Washington DC where we tailgated with our Notre Damers for the Maryland game. We also were able to see Kelsey in a Freshman Showcase at Catholic.
Kathy remains as a disability coordinator at Rutgers University and Kerry continues to balance many physical therapy jobs. Inspired by their nephew who completed the Ironman this year, they continue to stay very active and competed in a number of triathlons this summer.

WESTFIELD LODERS
For the Westfield Loders, 2011 was a year of constancy and change. Old sports were mixed with new athletic endeavors, favored vacation spots were supplemented by new destinations and the sounds of past musical instruments were harmonized with new ones.

Grace turned 6 in April and completed kindergarten in June, her last full year at Redeemer Lutheran School in Westfield. In the fall, Grace joined her older siblings at Wilson Elementary School, marking the 2011-2012 school year as the only year when all three Westfield children will be in the same school. Grace began the 1st grade in September and enjoys playing soccer, swimming, hanging out with her friends, drawing and continuing to order a bagel with butter not toasted at fine restaurants and establishments throughout North America.
Claire, who turned 9 in August, celebrated her birthday by attending a weeklong horseback riding camp at Lawton Stables in Hilton Head, S.C. After finishing basketball in the spring, Claire endured yet another season with her mother as coach when she competed in lacrosse in the spring. Claire would not comment when reporters asked her if she fired her mother in June. Claire began the 4th grade in September and spent the fall playing goalie in soccer. For orchestra, Claire plays the bass – an instrument that is twice the size of her.
Brendan, 11, started the 5th grade in the fall, his last year at Wilson School. Brendan’s sports year included wrestling, lacrosse and flag and tackle football. A highlight for Brendan was an evening of shark fishing with his old man along the waters of Hilton Head. Luckily, they did not need a bigger boat. Brendan continues to enjoy Boy Scouts, the tuba, the Pittsburgh Steelers and shooting short videos with his friends and his flip camera throughout the neighborhood.
